Stanley's Greenhouse will be hosting their seventh annual butterfly festival, On the Wing. They are offering the following free events celebrating our planet’s most beautiful pollinator: the ethereal and inspiring butterfly:

  • Children's Buttefly Craft Stations - 9:30-11:30am
  • “Beneficial Plants that Attract Butterflies to Your Garden” seminar - 10:30am
  • A Butterfly Scavenger Hunt in Monte’s Meadow - 11:30am

Also in attendace will be: 

  • Irvey's Ice Cream Truck - delicious homemade ice cream
  • Uplift Coffee - coffee, iced coffee, Red Bull Italian sodas, and cookies
  • Native Plant Rescue Squad

Try: The Great Egg Drop of 2023 

When: Saturday, August 26th, 6pm
Where: Last Days of Autumn Brewing / 808 E Magnolia Ave. Knoxville 

Transport yourself back to grade school with this challenge. Last Days is having a contest to see who can build a container that will protect a raw egg from breaking after it is dropped from their rooftop onto the concrete patio. The winner will get an awesome trophy, $100 cash, and a personalized ceramic beer stein. The stein will be kept in their taproom wall and anytime you're hanging out at Last Days, each fill is only $4 for an entire year.

Family: Knoxville Children's Theatre's Huckleberry Finn

Knoxville Children’s Theatre presents a live production of “Huckleberry Finn.” Based on the book by Mark Twain and adapted by Zack Allen, the play brings the famous book to life on stage.

This is your last chance to see the show as this is the last weekend it will run.

Huck Finn is on the run from his criminal father, along with his friend Jim, adrift on the mighty Mississippi River. The two fall prey to two con men calling themselves the King and The Duke. Huck and Jim get involved in a number of outrageous schemes. If Jim can get far enough up river, he can become a free man, and Huck discovers there may be a fortune for him too!

The play is performed by 15 talented young actors and designed by 10 talented young designers from ages 9 to 16.

Ramble On down to Calhoun's on the River and kick out the jams with one of Knoxville's favorites... Fountain City Ramblers!

The Fountain City Ramblers are a fun-loving’ acoustic group that mixes up musical instruments and genres in a constantly evolving set list. So, while no two shows are the same, the end result is always a fun ride for both the audience and the band. The group covers everything from bluegrass to the Beatles…from Johnny Cash to Hall & Oates…and 80s sing-a-long classics to Led Zeppelin songs reimagined as an acoustic trio.

Sunday Funday: Flowers of the Smokies

When: Sunday, August 27th, 3pm-5pm
Where: Painting with a Twist / 10939 Kingston Pike, Knoxville   

Escape the everyday stresses, relax, and unleash your creative side as you Sip. Paint. Relax. Join Painting with a Twist at their Farragut studio and paint the beautiful scenery of flowers of the Smoky Mountains! No art experience needed. Bring nothing but a drink to sip on, and snacks, if you wish. They will provide step-by-step instructions for this class as long as all supplies. At the end of the experience, you will take home your very own completed custom work of art & an awesome memory!

Come in a 1/2 hour early for DIY candles. Your candle will be cured and ready to take home by the end of class.
