Do: Christmas in the Cave

When: Friday and Saturday, 5pm-8pm  & Sunday, 3pm-8pm
Where: Cherokee Caverns / 8524 Oak Ridge Hwy, Knoxville 

Stroll along the cave path and enjoy the beautiful Stalactites, Stalagmites and formations along with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights and scenes!

Have the kids bring their Christmas List along for a visit with Santa and a photo!*

Watch out for the mean one! He will be lounging in his lair waiting for you to visit with him!* The mean one’s favorite gift is stinky onions or sour lemons!

Joke around and take pictures with Cousin Ed before you enter the cave this year!*

There is a great selection of vendors with locally made products and gifts that will be perfect for Christmas shopping!

Food is available at The Grotto with concessions by J&J Dogs.

*Photos with Santa and The Mean One are optional and are not included with cave admission. You may purchase photos with cash or credit card with an option to receive a digital download of the photo, a printed version of the photo or both.

Eat & Drink: Date Night - An Evening in the Mediterranean 

When: Friday, December 1st, 6pm-9pm

Where: The Cutting Edge Classroom / 150 N Martinwood Rd. Knoxville 

Enjoy a culinary tour to the Mediterranean without leaving Knoxville in this fun, hands on, and interactive class! Mediterranean cuisine is defined by the food and preparation methods used by the people living along the Mediterranean Sea, from Spain to Morocco through Italy, Greece, Tunisia and other countries. The focus is on fresh products, pronounced flavors, and simple preparation techniques. Essentially, Mediterranean cuisine is made up of plant food and minimally processed staples where herbs and spices are essential ingredients. Usually, there’s lots of fruit, veggies, legumes, grains, lean meats, olive oil and aromatic herbs. Consuming dairy, eggs and wine in moderation, as well as fish and only a little meat. In this class the Chef will show you how to prepare several freshly prepared dishes commonly found in the Mediterranean region while sharing tips and tricks along the way! Best of all you will get to eat what you make in class!

Try: Live Watercolor Portrait Event 

When: Saturday, December 2nd, 9am-2pm
Where: CommonPlace Coffee / 6000 Chapman Highway, Knoxville 

Just in time for the holidays! CommonPlace Coffee has partnered with two local artists to offer abstract watercolor portraits. For this special keepsake, the artists will either take a snapshot or can receive a printed photo or photo via text or air drop from you at the time of your session. The artists will then create your portrait from that image. Please note that the 5” x 7” watercolor portrait is limited to no more than four people. Portraits can include a pet BUT are limited to a total of three subjects (including the pet) and must be created based off a printed or digital photo (no in-shop snapshots). Your finished keepsake should be ready for pick-up within 30 minutes of your session.

During this workshop, young participants will have the chance to craft their own marzipan masterpieces. They can use traditional molds or let their imaginations run wild to create unique designs. Additionally, kids will get to discover the fascinating differences between historic and modern food preparation tools.

Please note that marzipan is a nut-based candy, typically made from almonds or peanuts. If you or your child has a nut allergy, we want to ensure your safety and recommend exploring our other exciting events.

Watch & Listen: Knoxville Community Band Christmas Concert and Food Drive

When: Sunday, December 3rd, 3pm

Where: Bijou Theater / 803 S Gay St. Knoxville 

The Knoxville Community Band gives musicians of all experience levels the opportunity to perform in various concerts, including an outdoor concert series during the summer and other festivals and City events throughout the year.

This Christmas concert is free, but please bring a non perishable food item to donate to FISH Hospitality Pantries. 

Holiday Parade: Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade

When: Friday, December 1st, 7:30pm-9pm

Where: Downtown Parkway in Gatlinburg

The 48th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023. Featuring a star-studded line-up, the parade holds in store a magical display of decorative floats, festive marching bands, holiday balloons, and of course Santa Claus. The parade will illuminate downtown Gatlinburg with holiday cheer among the 1 million twinkling lights lighting up the downtown Parkway during Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic Celebration. The parade route runs through the middle of downtown Gatlinburg.

Bringing a list of renowned talent to the area, the Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will be joined by several celebrity guests. Rounding out the roster of well-known stars coming to Gatlinburg to ring in the beloved holiday tradition are Rachel Grant, Mark Wills, Canaan smith, Myron Mixon, and Janelle Arthur.

The Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will step off at 7:30 p.m. at the Baskins Creek Bypass and process throughout the downtown Parkway, ending at Traffic Light #10. The event is free and open to the public. However, due to the popularity of the event, eventgoers are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating and parking. Grandstand VIP seating is available for the parade, offering bleacher seating and a commemorative Santa Hat for $50.
