I hope it's safe to say that we have nicely settled into Spring. The trees and flowers are bloomed and gorgeous! It's a great time to visit some of the local gardens located in the Knoxville area. Many of these gardens are FREE and open year round. Take advantage of the beauty we have to offer right in our own backyards!

The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum (KBGA) is located on 47 acres of former Howell Nurseries, featuring walking trails, display gardens, unique & historic horticulture and over two miles of distinctive stone walls and timeless buildings, just five minutes from downtown. KBGA is a privately owned and operated Garden supported through donations and membership. They are open sun up to sun down! The UT Gardens, Knoxville, is one of the three sites of the State Botanical Garden of Tennessee. This outdoor learning laboratory is open year-round and is free to the public. Baxter Gardens is a private residence which opens its gardens to the public during the month of April as part of the Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is comprised of fifteen gardens which can be toured during the festival with the assistance of a printed map and guide or QR code provided onsite. Baxter Gardens has received thousands of visitors over the years and has been recognized in several garden publications, most notably Southern Living and Garden Design.

Ivan Racheff House & Gardens & Arboretum is a hidden gem in the Knoxville area. The Ivan Racheff House is a national historical landmark with beautiful gardens that proves that beauty and industry can coexist. The gardens and arboretum are free to the public and provide a unique and educational environment for children and adults. The Ivan Racheff House is the state headquarters for the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs (TFGC). Stroll through the 3.5 acre gardens and Arboretum enjoy the variety of trees and admire the fish ponds, and observe the Japanese Tea House. An annual plant sale will take place on April 29, 2023 with local plant vendors, craft items, a food truck, and more.

Once the centerpiece of a working 600-acre farm, this exquisite historic home is filled with 18th century antique furniture, a collection of English silver from circa 1640 to 1820, and lovely decorative arts. Other features of the property include five magnificent fountains, nine beautiful terraces, and manicured formal Italian gardens.
