Memorial Day is a time of honor, remembrance, and tribute to the ones that have served our country so proudly.  May us not take our freedoms and long weekends for granted, but to celebrate with grateful hearts.

Memorial Day: Memorial Day Concert

When: Monday, May 28th, 7pm-8pm
Where: A K Bissell Park / 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge 

The Memorial Day Concert will be dedicated to area military veterans and the men and women currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. This is a FREE concert, but donations to help offset band expenses are greatly appreciated. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor seating. Refreshments by Razzleberry's Ice Cream Lab.

Do: Early Years Walking Tour 

When: Saturday, May 26th, 10:30am-12pm
Where: East TN History Center / 601 S Gay St., Knoxville 

Step back over two centuries and visit Knoxville's founders as you listen to the stories of the settlement of White's Fort and establishment of the capital of the Southwest Territory at the headwaters of the Tennessee.  Proceeds help support The Knoxville History Project.
~90 minutes. Reservations required (book tickets online or call 865-309-4522.

Eat & Drink: Whiskey and Waffles

When: Saturday, May 26th, 3pm-5pm

 Whiskey paired with deliciously topped waffles! Where: The Central Collective / 923 N. Central St., Knoxville 

CALLING ALL GOOD SPORTS! 
Here's the deal. You purchase a ticket to a mystery event. Show up to The Central Collective at the specified date and time, and be ready for anything. Past events have included: a live studio game show, a walking tour of North Knoxville, live music with swing dance lessons, a yacht trip on the Tennessee River and a mini horse petting zoo. These are events for folks who are curious, adventurous, and like trying new things & meet new people.

Family: 2nd Annual Appalachian Puppet Pageant

When:  Saturday, May 26th, 11am-4:30pm
Where: The Muse Knoxville / 516 N. Beaman St., Knoxville 

The Appalachian Puppet Pageant is a giant puppet community arts parade organized by Knoxville-based arts nonprofit Cattywampus Puppet Council that seeks to bring together community members of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate and share their stories through the visual and performing arts. The community is invited to make giant puppets, masks, costumes, and other art and parade together as one. Parade line up is at 11am in the Eternal Life Harvest Center Plaza at the corner of Spruce & MLK. The parade will kick off at 12pm and conclude with a parade festival from 1-4:30pm at Chihowee Park, right outside The Muse Knoxville (516 N. Beaman St). The festival will feature live hip-hop, spoken word, and dance performances, as well as free activities from the Muse for all ages. Both the parade and party are free and open to all!

Watch and Listen: Annual Memorial Day Regatta

When: Monday, May 28th, 3pm-6pm
Where: Concord Yacht Club / 11600 S Northshore Dr., Knoxville 

Come out and say, "Hello" to Summer at CYC by enjoying a day of sailboat racing and camaraderie on Memorial Day. This regatta, as will all CYC regattas, will be open to Keelboats and Dinghies. They will have a Shrimp Peel on Sunday evening prior to racing on Monday. Details are in the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions at concordyachtclub.org.
