Great Life RE Weekend To Do List, Aug 11-14

Well the bad news is the weekend looks rainy, but we may get some moments of clear skies. The GREAT news is we have a list of what we think you shouldn't miss out on this weekend... some indoors, some outdoors.

Something To Do: Summer Concerts at the Cove

When: Saturday, August 12th  6pm
Where: The Cove at Concord Park / 11808 South Northshore Dr. Knoxville

80's cover band Vinyl Tap will be playing at this free concert that runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. Please note that no alcohol is allowed. In addition to great music, a food truck will be on site selling food and drinks. The park features several other summertime amenities, including a beach, playground, sand volleyball court, walking trail and fishing areas. River Sports also rents canoes and kayaks at this location.

If any concert has to be canceled due to inclement weather, a notification will be posted to the Knox County Parks & Rec Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/knoxcountyparks/

Something To Eat: The Restaurant at The Museum of Appalachia

When: Daily 11am-3pm

Where:  The Museum of Appalachia / 2819 Andersonville Hwy. Clinton.

The Museum's quaint restaurant serves a Southern-style lunch, with fresh garden vegetables, and mouth-watering homemade desserts. The daily special is a meat and two vegetables, or you can enjoy pinto beans & cornbread or vegetable soup. You haven't lived till you've eaten one of their special home-style meals, and it would be a cryin' shame if you didn't try some of those famously tempting desserts! Museum admission is not required to eat at the restaurant. A perk is you are right by the turn off for Norris Dam so you can enjoy Norris Dam State Park while you are out that way. **This is a favorite of one of the Great Lifers!**
