Mardis Gras.... Valentine's.... Just so many fun things happening. Check out our list and have a weekend full of GREAT things.
Do: Fat Friday Mardi Gras with Roux Du Bayou!
When: Friday, February 9th, 6pm-8:30pm
Where: Alive After Five at KMA / 1050 Worlds Fair Park Dr. Knoxville
Led by Paul Gregoire from Dulac, Louisiana, Roux du Bayou plays authentic cajun, zydeco, swamp pop, mardi gras music, and more. Their high energy style has brought them repeated engagements at a variety of venues all across the country, including the annual “Fat Friday Mardi Gras”. As always, everyone is encouraged to add to the “Big Easy” atmosphere and fun by wearing purple, gold, and/or lime green!
Food available from Bayou Bay Seafood House.

Eat: Virgin Bay Wild Alaskan Seafood Tasting
When: Friday, February 9th, 6pm-8pm
Where: The Casual Pint (Farragut) / 143 Brooklyn St. Farragut
Come taste the delicious catch of Virgin Bay Seafood, a wild Alaskan Seafood company who catches their own salmon. $15 gets you one flight of beer and seafood samples! Samples will consist of smoked salmon dip, and pan seared wild Halibut, Sockeye Salmon, and Alaskan Rockfish. Virgin Bay Seafood will be back at the Casual Pint Farragut on Saturday (Feb. 10th) with flash frozen seafood for purchase.
Try: Pitch & Grow Garden Prep Party
When: Saturday, February 10th, 9am-12pm
Where: East TN Permaculture Research Institute / 201 Ogle Ave. Knoxville
Join in, lend a hand, make new friends, pitch a pile of weeds, and be in on the start of something really cool. The SoKno Karma Farm is hosting this work party to get stuff moving by, … well, moving some stuff.
In addition to a bit of labor, they will be discussing their mission, revealing the proposed layout of their micro farm using permaculture design principles, and completing the morning with a hardy lunch and the product of their earlier “Brew Ha Ha” workshop on beer making.

A great way to spend some time with your little Valentine! The Chef will walk you through the process of mixing batter, baking cupcakes, and decorating using buttercream and fondant. Everyone will go home with their own cupcakes! Great fun for parents and children!
Watch and Listen: KSO Pops - Broadway Romance
When: Saturday, February 10th, 8pm-10pm
Where: Knoxville Civic Auditorium-Coliseum/ 500 Howard Baker Ave. Knoxville
The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform Broadway Romance as part of the Knoxville News Sentinel Pops Series, just in time for Valentine's Day!
Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum will conduct the KSO and special guest vocalists Christiane Noll, Rachel York, and Doug LaBrecque in the most romantic moments from Broadway showstoppers including Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, The Music Man, Funny Girl and more. Tickets on sale now and at the door ranging $36-$92.
