Try: Night Lights: Fire Flies & Spider Eyes
When: Friday, June 22nd, 8pm-10pm
Where: Seven Islands State Birding Park / 2809 Kelly Ln. Kodak
Fireflies produce a chemical reaction inside their bodies that allows them to light up in a process known as bioluminescence. But WHY do they do it? Most spiders have eight eyes. In some species four of those eyes have a reflective layer behind their retinas, called a tapetum. But WHAT makes them reflective?! WHAT birds can we see at night that aren't active during the day? Seven Islands interpretive rangers will answer these mysteries and many more during the June Night Eyes series. During a 1.5 mile, sunset to dark hike, we will explore the wonders of the park after hours!
The cost of this program is $8.00 for adults. Children 12 and under are free and DO NOT need to register for the event. We encourage participants to bring water, sturdy hiking shoes, and bug spray.

Watch and Listen: Vintage Base Ball: Double Header
When: Saturday, June 23rd, 12pm-4pm
Where: Ramsey House / 2614 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville
Join the fun while experiencing America’s game as it was played in 1864. This free public event is enjoying its 4th season. The players play by 1864 rules, wear period uniforms and our local Knoxville teams bear the names of actual teams that existed in Knoxville during that time. The Knoxville Holstons and Emmett’s Machinists play other vintage league teams from around the state. The league has been in existence for 5 years and has grown from two teams to somewhere close to 15!
Historic Ramsey House appreciates your support of their food and beverage sales. The proceeds from the sales help to continue to bring this great educational event to the community. Please bring a lawn chair, an umbrella for shade, and leave the coolers at home.
