Weekend To Do List - December 4-6, 2020

We are just weeks away from Christmas and our calendars are filling up fast. Take some time to enjoy the weekend and all that this season has to offer.

Check out this edition of the Great Life RE Weekend To Do List! While we try to find activities and events that promote social distancing and a safe environment please always use your own judgment when attending any activity or function. 

Do: Sips with St. Nick

When: Sunday, December 6th, 1pm

Where: Next Level Brewing Company / 700 North Broadway, Knoxville 

This Sunday Next Level Brewing will be hosting Busy Bee's Cookies and Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee along with the USMC Toys for Tots program. Bring some new packaged toys, eat cookies, and play with puppies. BCSUSHI will also be set up onsite to serve you some awesome food.  

Eat & Drink: Burrito Bonanza  

When: Friday, December 4th, 4pm-7pm
Where: Beardsley Farm / 1741 Reynolds St. Knoxville 

CAC Beardsley Community Farm is teamed up with MHM Architects to bring you this unique farm-to-table fundraiser dinner featuring Beardsley Farm burritos created by OliBea! This dinner will be take-out style, with burrito dinner pickup at Beardsley Farm. If you come while it's still light out, they encourage you to take a stroll around the farm grounds. All courses are made with Beardsley Farm produce. Burrito dinners will include: a meat or vegetarian burrito (from OliBea), homemade chips and homemade salsa (from OliBea), and a dessert. Options are available to add on a special homemade paloma from Tako Taco. Come 10-20 minutes early to enjoy a stroll, meet the chickens, ask questions, and peruse their merchandise. All proceeds will benefit the farm's mission to promote food security in Knoxville.

Try: Christmas Clay Pieces with Studio 212 Arts

When: Days and Times Vary Depending on Class (see details below)

Where: Studio 212 Arts / 934 E Broadway Ave. Maryville 

These classes require reservations. 

Santa Mugs: Saturday, December 5th, 1pm-2:50pm
Come create this cute, festive holiday mug. Students will receive 1 thrown leather hard mug to manipulate. They will learn some handbuilding and sculpting techniques to make Santa's face come to life.
Snowmen Centerpeices: Saturday December 5th, 1pm-2:30pm
Join your instructor as they guide you through creating 2 adorable snowmen centerpieces. Each student will create 1 large and 1 small snowman in class. These cute creations will be useful and relevant for your table, mantle, or countertop all through the winter season!
Christmas Tree Luminary: Sunday, December 6th, 3:30pm-5pm
Up your holiday decorating game by carving your own Christmas Tree luminaries. Your instructor will lead you through using various clay tools and instruments to create interesting textures and designs in your pieces. Students will receive 2 christmas trees to work with. 
Ornaments: Sunday, December 6th, 1:15pm-2:45pm
In this class you will learn to create beautiful handmade christmas ornaments. Using the tools provided, you can decorate your ornaments with whatever personal touch you desire. All materials are provided, however, if you have something at home that would make an interesting or meaningful imprint, such as a family brooch or Grandma's lace doily, please bring it along! The personal touch will turn your ornaments into keepsakes to be cherished. Students will receive 2 clay prepared slabs with which they can expect to make 12 - 15 ornaments.

*All pieces created in each clay class will be fired and ready for pickup 7-10 business days after class is held.

There will be plenty of kid friendly crafters and vendor to shop and also available will be concessions, Mini Manis by Color Street, Mini Makeovers by Mary Kay, Hot Cocoa Bombs and Baked Goods.

Watch & Listen: Light the Park Farragut

When: Nightly 5:30pm-10pm

Where: Founder's Park / 405 N Campbell Station Rd. Knoxville  

Light the Park is expanding this year to include the Farragut Community Center and the Campbell Station Inn Plaza allowing for even more lights and extra space to socially distance. Every evening at dusk from Nov. 24 through Jan. 3, thousands of lights come on at Founders Park at Campbell Station, the Farragut Community Center and the Campbell Station Inn Plaza for the annual light display. Parking will be available at all three locations. Park restrooms will be open until 10 p.m. during the light display, except on Dec. 25. 
During Light the Park, a slate of socially-distant activities will be offered, including grab-and-go items and storybook trails. A calendar detailing activities can be found at visitfarragut.org/light-the-park. Activities will be at Founders Park at Campbell Station. Giveaways at Light the park are weather-dependent, so be sure to follow social media and check the calendar often for updates.
