Weekend To Do List, January 24-26, 2020

Do: Sunset and Cider Hike

When: Saturday, January 25, 5pm-6:30pm
Where: Seven Islands State Birding Park / 2809 Kelly Ln, Kodak

Join Ranger Stephanie for an easy 1 mile hike down Kelly Ln to the Green House where we'll watch the sunset over the French Broad River from the porch as we sip on some hot apple cider. Along the hike to the Green House, we'll discuss the birds, wildlife, plants, and trees found in Seven Islands during the winter months. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight for the hike back to the parking lot since it will get dark quickly after sunset. The total distance of the hike will be 2 miles and will be entirely on pavement, except for when we're at the Green House porch. If participants wish to bring their own cup for cider, please feel free to do so, but cups will be provided otherwise along with the hot apple cider. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the weather. Please plan to arrive at the Bluebird Barn by the main parking lot on Kelly Ln by 5:00pm. In case of inclement weather, the hike will be rescheduled if possible.

If you have any questions regarding this hike please contact Ranger Stephanie at stephan[email protected] or 865-407-8335 or by cell phone 715-630-6848.

We will have plenty of miniature plants and fairy garden accessories for sale, but feel free to bring things from nature and around the house to help decorate your garden—acorns, bark, lichens, seashells, buttons, tiny mirrors, and anything else that would make a fairy feel at home in their tiny landscape.
