Memorial Day: Memorial Day Concert

When: Monday, May 27th, 7pm-8pm
Where: AK Bissell Park / 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge

This free concert will celebrate our area veterans and the men & women currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces with a program of patriotic music. All military branches will be recognized. The Band will be performing a program of patriotic & commemorative music in honor of area veterans who are encouraged to attend this event and give the public the opportunity to salute them for their service. Do: Hiwassee Loop Train Ride

When: Friday, May 24th, 1:30pm and Sunday, May 26th, 1:30pm 
Where: L&N Depot / 727 Tennesse Ave., Etowah, TN   

Hiwassee Loop (3.5-hour) excursion begins at Etowah, TN, runs through the Cherokee National Forest and lower Hiwassee River Gorge and over the Bald Mountain Loop. There is no layover, and passengers will stay on the train for the duration of the trip. A commissary area will be available so that passengers may purchase light snacks and soft drinks.

(Younger children are welcome with parental help.) They provide the materials; you bring the creativity! Crafting happens in the Children’s Library Discovery Corner each Saturday.

Watch & Listen: The Grassabillies

Hailing from the Great Smoky Mountains, the Grassabillies are a music group of family and friends who play bluegrass music with no rules and no apologies. Get ready cause here come the Grassabillies! Their High energy shows include acoustic music and vocals. Acoustic instruments playing different styles of music with a bluegrass twist.
